Cijous Sornicsis has something to say today:
(Answer to one of my membership questions)
===
I'm interested in what your target audience is since you're making this type of content. Because your page is good an it looks good, and the copy is amazing, but it just isn't the vibe.
===
Isn't the vibe, you say?
Well, my friend, it sounds like you’re one who simply doesn’t “get it”.
What confuses me is why you’d pound and claw ceaselessly on the nice new walls of my kingdom if you don’t like the “vibe” of it to begin with.
If you don't "get it" or "get me" then you probably don't need to be in here.
Either way though:
Your sentence ALMOST passes the sniff test for being genuine and not passive-aggressive.
But only almost, and no further.
I mean, look at my headline, for instance:
Genius Prodigy Info-Marketer Says “Frick It!” &
Makes Public For $0.00 His "Treasure Trove" Of Obscure Marketing Resources So Good They’re Practically
FREE MONEY!
For Any Info-Seller, Marketer, Or Copywriter Smarter Than A 6-Year-Old
Is it really that difficult to figure out who my target audience is?
I think even ChatGPT could figure this one out.
Let's see:
==
Me: Babe who is the target audience of this headline? 🥺🥺 Tell me in one sentence... 🥺
ChatGPT: This headline is targeting ambitious info-product creators, online marketers, and copywriters who crave insider shortcuts, “hidden gems,” and high-ROI resources that feel too good to be free.
===
If even CrapGPT can figure it out it should NOT be that difficult.
Is this a "weird" headline?
Sure.
But as the dude HIMSELF admits, I'm targeting literally the single most sophisticated B2B audience in existence.
And yet… differentiating myself from others who run similar offers to me is a… bad thing in his eyes?
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I am fully self-aware that the way I run things is “weird”.
The headline on that page is 110% over the top, the copy after that doesn’t help, and my “work with me” sales page is much worse than even that one.
And realistically, if I were addicted to squeezing out every last drop of conversion out of my funnel, I wouldn’t even have a funnel before a free Skool group.
But I already laid out why I’ve made this decision in a previous email:
===
Been writing a sales page for the kingdom the past couple of weeks off and on.
Finally got it to the point where it's worth showing off.
"But Twistan, but Twistan what if your funnel converts better without that extra friction?? 🥺"
There's a decent chance it does.
But I don't really care and here's a few reasons why:
More curation is almost always better than less curation
It's the opposite of what everyone else is doing, which makes me stand out
Having the conviction to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing increases my authority
It forces people to step into my world immediately
I get a bad taste in my mouth anytime someone CTAs me to a "free Skool group", so I figure high-quality people feel the same way and they actually might have to be sold on the opportunity
I can frame it as "resources" instead of a community, which feels like much less effort on the other person's end
And what is probably the "real" reason (because we make decisions emotionally and justify them rationally) I think it's cool.
But even the "emotional" reason has some logical basis since doing what I think is cool rather than optimizing for every last little decimal of percentage again increases my authority.
A lot of people in the online money world are addicted to the "copy economy" of looking at what works for everyone else.
Me personally?
I'd rather run my business how I want to run it.
This is also why I'm posting more B2B content to get leads that way even though "building a personal brand takes years bro".
Maybe they're right and maybe it does.
Maybe this decision will come back to bite me.
Of course, there's a reason the common advice is the common advice.
But... we shall have to see.

...is what today's email was going to say.
But since I'm such a kind, virtuous individual, I would NEVER clap back that ruthlessly against ANYONE.
EVER.
Because I'm kind.
And we can't jump to conclusions here about this potentially cordial gentleman’s intentions.
So, I tried to figure it out:
===
What do you mean it isn't the vibe haha?
===
His response:
===
Haha yeah, I don't know what your audience is & who you're trying to attract. If, however it's sophisticated ppl to work with, I wouldn't go with the minecraft themed channel, or how you made your copy because it doesn't attract particularly B2B (or perhaps you also have data to go off of, and i'm completely wrong, but that's what i said i don't know who you're trying to work with/attract) Don't get me wrong though, your copy is amazing ngl
But nonetheless I love what you do my man, and the angle you have. Keep going bro you'll definitely see amazing results
===
Okay, originally I thought he was being passive-aggressive, but even if he was, he seems like a cool dude.
My cordial response:
The mistake here is that you’re addicted to data.
That in and of itself is a whole other rabbit hole I’m not going to get into today.
Also, I don’t really know what you’re talking about with the Minecraft stuff. I just use the font occasionally and a couple of other elements.
But to address your other points:
Doing something "unoptimal" that you like to do is oftentimes better than doing something optimal you don't like to do. (But honestly, I don’t know if the style of my copy would be “unoptimal” even in the traditional sense, except for repelling corporatey “professionals” who I have no desire to work with anyway…)
Having this mindset also makes you stand out, creates authority, makes your business more fun, builds a relationship with people, makes you only work with people you want to work with, and about a jillion other benefits.
Allat said…
If you sell info, and you’d like to sell more of it (potentially a LOT more of it) you'd best go here and read my copy that apparently “isn’t the vibe”:
